Quality Of Life Directors Recognized In Honor Of National Activity Professionals Week

JANUARY 22, 2019

Louisville, KY – January 22, 2019 – January 20 through January 26 marks National Activity Professionals Week. To commemorate this week, we are recognizing our Quality of Life Directors (QOLD) for their outstanding commitment to improving our residents lives and allowing them to live life to the fullest extent possible. Whether it’s a simple activity in the facility, an outing to a local restaurant or even a vacation to Florida, our QOLD’s serve with purpose and strive to make a difference every day.

Many of our QOLD’s have been a stakeholder for more than a decade, while some less than a year. But, regardless of how many years they’ve been part of the Signature family, they all have special reasons why they love what they do.

“It is always an evolving position, but one thing that is constant is friendship. Whether it be a lasting friendship with an elder or a stakeholder, nothing has shaped my Signature story like the people that are in it.” – Cindy Porter, QOLD at Prestonsburg Healthcare Center

“I cherish every moment, every hug, every smile, every laugh, and even a good cry. I am able to be the teacher as well as the student. My elders are what drive me to be the best version of myself.” – Joy McCorkle, QOLD at Signature HealthCARE of Chapel Hill

“Over time I have held several positions (at Signature HealthCARE) but the position of Quality of Life Director was a gift to me from the residents. The residents chose me and I was very humbled by this. This has been a journey that I feel has improved my life immensely.” – Roberta Campbell, QOLD at Signature HealthCARE of Elizabethton

“I love seeing the positive changes and impact I have on my elders over time. I love seeing elders ‘grow’ and proving society wrong in that you are ‘never too old to learn something new.’ I love the impact the elders have on me and my well-being. They in turn help me grow and want to be a better leader and friend.” – Paula Hardy, QOLD at Signature HealthCARE of Roanoke Rapids

“I worked in Owensboro at (Signature HealthCARE) Hillcrest as an Activities Assistant; that’s where I fell in love with the elders. I came to Newburgh a year ago and my heart grows stronger daily.” – Mia Mascenik, QOLD at Signature HealthCARE of Newburgh

“I love the family-like environment and being able to highlight the best parts of living, from holidays and special events to everyday joys such as worship, creativity and encouraging one another.” – Angela Smith, QOLD at Signature HealthCARE of Savannah

“I love that this position has allowed me to foster relationships with the residents and become like family to them and in turn become like family to their family.” – Jamie Stevens, QOLD at Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center
